Richard Huggins is a professional musician, arranger-producer, writer and keyboard artist residing in Tyler, Texas. He is Worship Associate and Organist at Sylvania Church, Tyler.

Richard's background includes church staff positions, freelance music productions, and music evangelism, plus music leadership roles at state and national Baptist denominational events. In addition to his music production activities, he uses his piano artistry and conversational manner to present worship concerts in churches and for special church and denominational events.

Born in Oklahoma City, he is the son of Dr. James R. Huggins, M.D. (deceased) and Mrs. Lois Hopper (deceased). He is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University.

When five years old, Richard began piano lessons, adding organ study at age 10. During his high school years and continuing through college and beyond, he served as an accompanist for Baptist events in Oklahoma, honing what would be a lifetime of passion about the importance of artistic accompaniment. His past denominational service includes a variety of music leadership roles at national events sponsored by various departments of Lifeway Christian Resources, Nashville, TN. He also has served as a full time or part time church staff member in Southern Baptist churches in four states.

Richard also has been the pianist or organist at four Billy Graham Associate Crusades. From 1989 through mid-1991 he was Creative Director, Musicals and Collections, for Word Music, a leading publisher of Christian materials.

His wife, Barbara, is retired from being Professor of Pediatrics and Chair, Dept. of Pediatrics, at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, Tyler. Richard has recorded three albums, has several published choral arrangements and has written three books of piano arrangements for Word Music (out of print) and one (still available) from Lifeway Music. Richard and Barbara have two children, Kristin and Shannon, and two grandchildren, Ava and Sara.
